2.3ltr petrol engine, Manual 4 speed gearbox.. Bought by me just over a year ago to use on a little trip around the coastline of the UK mainland. I was forced to stop after about 1000 mls by virus restrictions…. The camper performed brilliantly throughout, although the clutch release bearing started to whine a little bit… I have fitted a rear facing camera to act as a rear mirror, (massive improvement on the old mirror).. The camper is fitted with air bags on the rear axle… These are an aid to stability in poor weather and do not replace the suspension which is still in place… Inside is in original trim and equipment from 1978… There is a shower room/toilet. Twin burner hob/grill with an oven… Original fridge and gas fire also, but I have only used the fridge on 240v via the electric hook up…… The main seats and table convert to a double bed, and there is a smaller bed area in the Luton section…. This is a dual purpose vehicle in so much as it is accepted in classic car shows as genuine classic vehicle, and also it is a lovely camper for weekends and holidays…. Viewing is advised, And you should appreciate that this vehicle is 43 years old and DOES NOT perform like a modern camper….. I never use motorways because constant high speed are not recommended by me for a 43 year old engine/gearbox….. I do all my trips via “A” roads at speeds not exceeding 50 MPH…… Please note that, the cab has some light surface rust, but no serious corrosion, and the chassis / underneath is in very good condition….. The main body has various dings and marks due to branches or bushes but none have punctured the skin of the living section…… Deposit to be paid on sale agreement, Balance by cash or bank transfer before release…. Unfinished motor home project.. It took me a long time to find a RHD Bedford MJ this clean. If unfamiliar with this type of vehicle, a quick google search is recommended. This is the 1985 turbo version (the best ones) and with only 31,000 on the clock its barely run in. It was a reserve vehicle (not used in service) one of the last 100 to ever be released by the MOD and they are not releasing any more. I have the certificate of origin direct from the ministry of defence. It runs perfectly and has clearly been very well looked after. In addition, I start her up regularly and have driven it up and down the local country lanes a few times. Always puts a smile on my face and a terrified one on my neighbours. It is currently unregistered but I have all the paperwork and a good understanding of the process to make her road legal. Its pretty straight forward really. I was going to register it as a motor caravan and it passed its plating test (MOT) a couple of years ago and although this has now lapsed, Im sure it would sail through its next one. The box is industrially built with no expense spared, double glazed, insulated, water tight and truly bomb proof. The doors are awesome, so solid. The box cranes off easily and so can be separated from the vehicle if needed. It took me many hours and a small fortune to find the genuine screw hooks that link the box to the body but this insures it has been done properly. I have been staying 3-4 nights of the week on board to help reduce my commute to work. Inside has been pieced together using odds and ends that I have acquired over the years and is to my taste but may not be to yours. It wouldnt take much to start again or to continue as have although I do stress Im no carpenter and its pretty rustic. It is very basic with no water or electrics plumbed or wired in yet but this could be viewed positively as a blank canvas. Both the vehicle and box have a lot of potential either together or separated. I may even consider hiring it out at festivals if I were to get it looking a bit nearer the mark. I will be heartbroken to see her go but needs must. Viewing is welcomed but strictly by appointment only. It is kept on private land near to Tunbridge Wells and the farmer and I both own guns. Bedford tk 1974 vickers body converted horsebox. Weighing in at 5.5 tonnes shes 23 foot long and under 7 foot wide. And mot exempt which is brilliant no yearly costs and bedford engines are robust and sturdy. She has only ever done 63,000 miles in her lifetime and has many more years of fun and adventures ahead to come. There is a double bed above the cab and space for another single bed on the bottom bunk. This also makes a great day settee area. Its all set for electrical hook up in caravan parks. This will give you internal lights and a fridge and shower hose to use in the little shower space. 2 gas hobs and a grill and a little kitchen table that is collapsible if wanted. There is a wood burner installed its a great little stove. It is very efficient and keeps the van well and truly toasty throughout the winter months. There is a fridge that can run of has or electric. She cruises along at around 55 mph very comfortably and has only 4 gears. Its a slow and steady journey every time. There are 2 leisure batteries that charge as you drive along and will give you internal lights and the use of the usb cigarette lighter charger. Im sure thats not the correct term but you know what I mean. I think she should have a little more work on her adding on some solar panels etc which would make it completely self sufficient and perfect for those that like steering of the path most travelled. I love this vehicle its beautiful charming and so unique. Any questions please dont hesitate to ask. She will be available to drive away on the 15th of June but is being used until then. It is a project but one that can easily be done by a diy enthusiastic, 2.0 liter slarnt engine, was running fine when parked up but after sitting for sometime I think the starter motor has seized but due to medical reaons I’m now not in a position to be able to finish it, and enjoy what I would’ve achieved.
