Up for sale is our camper Barney. We bought it 2 1/2 years ago already fitted out as a camper. Barney had lots of rust in the floor, sills and inner wheel arches which has all been cut out and replaced with new panels welded in. Engine has had a new timing belt, water pump and clutch fitted, as well as a full engine service and filter change. Mechanically very reliable, always starts first turn of the key and everything on the base van works as it should. At some time in the past the original engine was changed for a Ford 2.5Di banana engine which is an engine type fitted to earlier LDV Convoys and whilst not as powerful as the later engines, is very reliable and has no electrical gremlins waiting to rear their heads. Internally, the van has a water tank and water pump supplying cold water to the sink tap, a working 2 ring gas hob and grill, a 3 seat sofa that converts into a double bed, 12 volt lighting, a shower / toilet cubicle, 12 volt cigarette lighter socket and a couple of USB charging sockets. There is an 18 month old 12 v leisure battery fitted with a switch operated charge relay. Bad bits – the inside is shabby and theres no water heater or space heating. The water tank needs replacing but I have a brand new 70 litre water tank that will go with the van. It has a 240 v hookup socket and while the 240 v plug sockets work ok, the 240 v system should be re-wired in larger cable. Any questions feel free to message me.
