These are all easily monitored via the control panels and Victron app, then when you’re nearing the end of the day, switch from spotlights to reading lights for the last few minutes of the evening. He designed the vehicle from the outset as a luxury off-grid motorhome. His background is as a qualified electrician and experienced property refurbishment specialist, so quality and longevity were the primary goals. The result is a unique motorhome built with quality materials, that weighs 3210kg (against a 3500kg GVM), giving you a generous payload to enjoy many long trips away. Given that longevity was essential, the first step was to book the vehicle into Mercedes-Benz Westbury for a detailed health check. The vehicle was previously under a Mercedes-Benz service plan, and a new subscription was taken out at this time. A full service was carried out on 26th October 2020, and an additional services have been carried out by E star truck and van (Mercedes specialists) northwest. Tyre pressure monitoring system that provides tyre pressure and temperature at each wheel. Seating – the motorhome is capable of seating 6, with OEM individual captain’s seats in the front and reclining, removable leather seats in the rear (all with ISOFIX). The layout is primarily designed to seat 4, with a 5th seat in the’corridor’. There are runners fitted for a 6th seat under the additional kitchen unit should you wish to alter the layout. Insulation – a combination of rigid Celotex, flexible mineral wool and expanding foam in inaccessible areas. The ceiling and floor are completely covered in rigid Celotex, with the walls, side and rear doors receiving a mixture of rigid and flexible. Floor construction – 18mm CE2+ structural plywood across the entire floor. There is also a small pop out inspection hatch within this allowing quick access to the electrical fuses and switchgear. Water heater – IMASS Instantaneous LPG water heater (unlimited hot water) with remote controller located above fridge. Water tanks – there are two fresh water tanks fitted, one 70 litre tank underslung behind the rear axle, and one 60 litre tank within the accommodation underneath the bed. These are arranged so that in summer both tanks can be used to give 130 litre fresh water capacity, and in winter the external tank can be emptied and bypassed to give 60 litre fresh water capacity within the insulated interior. Waste water tank – 52 litre underslung tank located behind the driver’s footwell. Gauges – 2 x CBE Caravan fresh and Waste Water Tank Level Indicator (each tank monitored individually). Pump – Shurflo Trail King Caravan Motorhome Pressurised Water Pump, 10.6 litre/min, 30 PSI. Filter – Shurflo Caravan & Motorhome Water Strainer Filter. Accumulator – Fiamma A20 Universal Expansion Tank. Garage hose feed – additional water outlet hose within the garage area, to allow external water usage for hosing off etc. Shower – residential quality chrome shower mixer valve with separate hose outlet, provides an extremely generous shower experience. Shower tray – 670x670mm shower tray, with plug to allow 100mm standing warm water. Sink combination unit – Dometic HSG 2370 Smev 9222 Sink and Hob Combination Unit. Drainage – via flexible pipe from kitchen sink and rigid 32mm solvent pipe from shower (fast draining). Toilet – Thetford Porta Potti Excellence 565 – White (Electric Flush). The level and quality of insulation means heating is rarely required in summer, but for going off-grid in the colder months a 2kW diesel heater is fitted with front and rear outlets. This is fuelled via the auxillary fuel tap on the main vehicle fuel tank, not a separate internal tank as commonly seen. This has been thoroughly tested with a logging thermometer (as we have stayed several nights with my infant daughter) and can keep the whole vehicle at up to 27oC when the outside temperature is 0oC. Also, the 230v cabling is sized to allow an electric heater to be used when connected to shore power at a campsite, however the onboard is so economical and efficient it is unlikely you will ever choose to. Roof fan – Maxxair Maxxfan Deluxe Roof Vent Fan With Remote Control and Maxxshade Roller Blind with additional LED Lighting. Cylinder – 2 x Campingaz 907 cylinders onboard. In the 6 months I have used the motorhome only half of one bottle has been used. Gas locker – High Peak Conversion gas locker sized specifically for the Campingaz 907.
