Truly OFF GRID van conversion! Recirculating shower, 900w solar, elevating bed
We can convert your LWB Mercedes Sprinter in to a truly off grid motor home! Note:- This listing is for a conversion to a customer supplied van. It does not include the van in the images. I have run an engineering company in the past and this year I built myself a van during lock down (shown in photos) Due to the pandemic I lost my income so I had to sell it. So I set about designing my next one. Unfortunately the spec I want was outside of my price range. That was until I started talking to suppliers and worked out that if I built multiple vans and productionised them it brought the cost of an individual van down considerably. I have now finished designing and sourcing parts for version 2.0 which is an evolution of the first van, with a slightly different layout and better specs throughout. The customer will have to supply a long wheel base Mercedes Sprinter or Volkswagon Crafter to suit this design. You will be able to choose finishes such as flooring, upholstery etc and there is opportunity to upgrade certain aspects but the basic design and layout needs to remain. A bit of back story. I have spent 15+ years renting different. Motor homes 10+ times a year for my on site work. The main points I wanted to overcome where. I wanted something that you don’t need to hook up to the mains before it could function so this van will be. With a power system that you can use like your house and will never run out of electricity. I hated dealing with gas bottles, never mind the obvious dangers of carrying around with you and sleeping next to it, so this van. Heating (air and water) is powered by. (from your main tank) and the power system easily copes with the induction cook top. It annoyed me that the showers are always tiny and you can only use them once or twice before you have to refill the water. So in this van there is a fully recirculating shower and at the push of a button the system will. Back-flush the 5 stage filtration system and dump. The used water in to the waste tank so you start each shower with fresh water, its cleaner than a bath and uses less than 5 litres per shower! This allows you to take circa 17 showers on one fill. I have also designed the shower room to expand in to a household sized shower when you want it and when folded away the reduced cubicle that remains also serves as storage. Fold out beds are far to much hassle and a fixed bed takes up so much space I figured there had to be a better solution so I designed an elevating bed that you can leave made up and just push a button to drop it down or raise it up. Its not quite standing height underneath but as its over the seating area this. Obviously I understand the requirement for everything to be lightweight and cost effective but using wood alone is always going to be either heavy or flimsy so in my design all the internals will have an extruded aluminum frame throughout with lightweight ply infills so that its lighter and more rigid than the commonly used and cheaper solution of plywood throughout. Why cant a motor home or camper van have a sensible sized fridge? Its not a difficult one to overcome but I still cant work out why. I didn’t have to hook up, turn on gas, find water, wait for the fridge to cool down or any of that! As soon as I was stationary I had everything I would have at home. Here is an outline of the specs you can expect with this build but please contact me for a full quote. 900W of solar on the roof. 2KW Victron inverter/charger, charge controller and battery to battery charger. 200AH 12V Lithium battery bank (up-gradable). 240v, USB and 12V sockets throughout. Electromagnets which lock all drawers and cupboards engage automatically when you start the van. Elevating bed (slightly under King size). Recirculating shower with 5 stage filtration system (at the flick of a switch swap to use fresh water). Hot water from a heat exchanger so you will never run out of hot water. Built in WIFI router with external marine aerial (customer to supply sim card). 70L fresh, 52L grey and a 15L insulated hot water tank. Hot and cold water to sink, shower and a removable external shower point. Grey tank will be fitted with an electronically operated ball valve to drain it. Switched from inside the van. Diesel fueled heater ducted through the van. Diesel fueled water heater. 90+ Litre fridge with freezer compartment. Twin ring induction cook top. Swivel base on passenger seat.
