Camper van vw T25/T3
This van has shown us some fantastic trips over the few years we had him. We bought him in 2020 at the start of lockdown #1 and spent the following year working on getting the inside just how we wanted it. Full details of the work we’ve below but we put a lot of love into it. We arrived in New Zealand in February and the van has been in storage in a warehouse in Edinburgh over winter until May when we decided to sell. He’s had a new starter motor and battery fitted to get him going again, and now lives on my parents’ driveway in Dundee. Details of work done. Reconditioned engine put in around the 250k mark by previous owner. Interior work we’ve done. Completely stripped old interior behind the cab. Rust treated and waxoyled the bare metal of the inside, including floor. Fully insulated with reflective tape, dodomat sound deadening foam and dodomat insulation. Ply lined and stretch carpeted. Additional removable sound insulation mat for engine cover. 12mm marine ply topped with cork tiles. Re-fabricated rock n roll bed into two seater to allow for side unit. Washed original seat foam, cut to size and topped with new foam for extra comfort. Reupholstered rear seats and back engine cover. Bespoke cabinetry – Wall units with fold out table, handmade sink and various storage compartments. Fridge box with lid. (fits perfectly for the fridge which is included). Additional shallow storage units over engine compartment in the rear. All new leisure battery with Split charge relay, inverter and 240v hookup. Ceiling lined with bamboo matting. New footwell mats for front seats. Mechanical work we’ve had done. Regularly servicing – Two new front tyres (July 2022) – Fuel filter replaced – Fuel injectors replaced – Gear linkage adjusted. Much smoother action on gear lever – Wheel alignment and balance (July 2022) – Full steam clean (July 2022) – Engine retiming and general tune up (July 2022) – Rocker cover gaskets replaced – New power steering pipes (November 2022) – Rear brake drums overhaul (September 2022) – New exhaust section and end pipe to replace corroded parts (August 2021) – New engine thermostat (August 2021) – New starter motor (May 2023) – New starter battery (May 2023) Exterior work we’ve done: – When we bought the van the front end was badly corroded. We had all the rust cut out and replaced with new steel, including under the windshield where there were holes coming straight through, between the front grills and bumper. This is why the front of the van is a different colour! – Van has been waxoyled annually underneath. Last done June 2022.
